Integrated Solar system to water lifting, chiller & drier, and lighting (Phase II: 2014-19).

An integrated system for providing power and water to small village was planned and designed.  This system provides 3 key inputs for agri based rural community –Water (for irrigation & safe drinking water using water purifiers, Electric light (LED lighting) for Households & street lamps for community benefit, and chilling & drying facilities. Chilling (5-10 ) facility for storage of vegetable, fruits, milk, etc. and drying (45 ) facilities for harvested products was designed as components of the integrated system. The solar refrigerators can be of much use for remote villages with limited or fluctuated power supply. The cold storage unit can also have support by the AC power, in case there is prolonged non-sunshine hours. Novel DC VFD inverter design is socially designed to operate inductive variable speed loads. However, the VFD commercially available in the market is only for one MW plus systems. An entrepreneur could be developed to operate the cold storage unit and provide storage services on cost basis for the community. There is only a one-time capital cost and the recovery period is less than 3 to 5 years.
